Our second Masterworks program includes two 20th century masterpieces. British composer John Rutter’s Magnificat is full of energetic rhythms and strong melodies; a brilliant choral tour de force. American Pulitzer Prize winning composer Howard Hanson wrote his second symphony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Where Rutter celebrates the spiritual, Hanson touches the spirit.
