This afternoon's concert includes a trio of magnificent works by composers who were looking for a slice of redemption. Beethoven slaved over his revisions to his only opera to get it just so; Korngold wrote his lyrical Violin Concerto in an effort to return to "serious" composition; and at great personal risk Shostakovich presented his stunning Fifth Symphony in the face of Soviet censorship.
Performing at The Isabel Bader Centre, 390 King St W, Kingston.
