Rankin Productions presents:

An Evening with Judy Collins

Judy Collins has thrilled audiences worldwide with her famously ethereal voice and her distinctive interpretation of some of the classic songs of our time as well as her own poetically poignant original compositions. Her legendary career began in 1961 with the release of her first album, A Maid of Constant Sorrow, at the age of 22. She interpreted the songs of fellow artists - particularly the social poets of the time such as Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs and Tom Paxton. Judy was instrumental in bringing other singer-songwriters to a wider audience including Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell and Randy Newman. Judy Collins is also noted for her rendition of Joni Mitchell's Both Sides Now on her 1967 album, Wildflowers, which has since been entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Her famously moving version of Stephen Sondheims Send in the Clowns won a Grammy Award in 1975. Recently, contemporary and classic artists such as Rufus Wainwright, Shawn Colvin, Arlo Guthrie, Joan Baez, and Leonard Cohen honoured her legacy with the album Born to the Breed: A Tribute to Judy Collins.

Her most recent release, the CD/DVD Judy Collins Live at the Metropolitan Museum of Art aired on PBS and celebrates her iconic career. On this magical night in her adopted hometown of New York City she performed her most beloved worksfrom then and nowat the Mets Temple of Dendur. In attendance were friends and family, and joining her onstage were special guests such as Ani DiFranco, Jimmy Webb, and Shawn Colvin. Its a glowingly pure portrait of a treasured artist with one of the most pristine voices in music.

Judy Collins is still writing, performing, and nurturing fresh talent and playing 80 to 100 dates a year around the world. She is a relentlessly creative spirit, a modern day Renaissance woman who is also an accomplished painter, filmmaker, record label head, musical mentor, and an in-demand keynote speaker for mental health and suicide prevention. She continues to create music of hope and healing that lights up the world and speaks to the heart. www.judycollins.com
