Inspired by the true story that shocked Canada and captured international attention, Beverley Cooper’s Innocence Lost explores the devastating aftermath of the Steven Truscott case. Set in rural Ontario in 1959, the play begins after twelve-year-old Lynne Harper is found murdered and her fourteen-year-old classmate, Steven Truscott, is charged with the crime. As the community rallies around fear, suspicion, and the desire for answers, the story unfolds through the eyes of Sarah, a fictional classmate whose understanding of the world is forever changed.
