Kingston Grand Theatre will temporarily close to the public from June 15 to October 1, 2026 for essential infrastructure upgrades. The City of Kingston is upgrading the main auditorium’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system to improve indoor air quality and comfort. The new system will increase ventilation and cooling capacity in the auditorium and features a highly efficient air source heat pump with energy recovery features. The City is also replacing a portion of the roof and providing structural reinforcement for the new system.  

2026 Key Project Timeline: 

  • June 22: On-site construction and demolition begin. 

  • June 30: Roof replacement and structural modifications start. 

  • August 3: Installation of the new rooftop HVAC unit. 

  • September 1–10: System start-up, testing, and commissioning. 

  • September 23: Final construction completion. 

  • October 1: Kingston Grand Theatre officially reopens to the public. 

Kingston Grand Theatre Rosen Auditorium and Homestead Baby Grand will remain closed for the duration of the project. The Walter Fenlon and Linda Ann Daly Box Office will remain open during standard operating hours.
