The Nutcracker – Local Youth Participant Program
Ballet Jörgen’s Nutcracker Local Youth Participant Program gives young dancers the opportunity to perform with a professional dance company! They interact with professional dancers and gain invaluable performance experience as they dance roles in Ballet Jörgen’s The Nutcracker: A Canadian Tradition.

General Requirements
-Aged 8 – 17 years
-Dance training required, ballet is an asset

How to Register for Auditions
Students interested in auditioning must register in advance by filling out Ballet Jörgen’s online registration form on their website here. Kingston auditions commence on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

Local Rehearsal Director
Rehearsals are led by Local Rehearsal Director, Jasmin Lazo. Jasmin is a dancer, choreographer, and artist originally from Kingston, Ontario. Currently studying Performance Dance at Toronto Metropolitan University under the direction of Vicki St. Denys, Tanya Evidente, and Louis Laberge-Côté, she continues to develop her abilities and technique, and refine her artistic voice as both a performer, and creator. She has had the opportunity to perform in a work by Lukas Malkowski, and is currently in the process of rehearsing a new work by Kevin O’Day. Training extensively in ballet, contemporary, jazz, lyrical, and pointe prior to her post-secondary pursuits at 5678 Dance Studio, she remains a dedicated choreographer for the studio, receiving awards and special recognition for her choreography across competitions in Ontario and Quebec. Excited to continue growing as an artist, she looks forward to returning to the Kingston dance community in a new role.
