Laurence Lemieux, Co-Artistic Director and Co-Founder of Coleman Lemieux & Compagnie, will lead interactive, intensive sessions that explore the creative process underlying the development and production of choreography, with the goal of providing mentorship to local dance artists. PART II:
Laurence will build upon work from the previous days' session to explore the choreographic process in more depth. Participants will explore issues such as: creative inspiration; developing ideas behind new work; creating/presenting movement phrases and themes, editing and critiquing work; creative partnerships (e.g., musicians, media artists, choreographic mentors, rehearsal/performance spaces); performance goals; production considerations relevant to dance (lighting, staging, costuming, etc.); funding; etc.
PLEASE NOTE:
• Workshops are restricted to dancers aged 16+ years ONLY
• Participants should be senior students, pre-professional or professional dancers or performing artists.
• Space is limited to 20 participants.
ADMISSION:
This event is FREE to the public. However, registration is required to attend, as space is limited.
