41. Nailing It: Define Your Characters from the First Chapter
Novelist Michelle Berry starts with a brief talk about the fundamentals of a good opening and then moves to how to develop great characters that leap off the page. She’ll assign a fun exercise: participants interview one another (questions will be provided) and then create an opening scene with a character that is based on the person you interviewed and in which you incorporate what you learned at the start of the class about openings. Come prepared to participate and write!
