Do you remember the Elevator Man at S&R? Have you had a memorable breakfast at Morrison’s? Found the perfect record at Brian’s Record Option? Remember when Chez Piggy came to town?
Come share your tales about Downtown Kingston! The Tale of a Town - Canada is a national oral history project, collecting tales about downtowns and main streets across the country.
Tale of a Town is currently in Kingston as part of the inaugural Kick & Push Festival and it will be bringing the"Storymobile" (a tab trailer converted into a sound recording studio!) to a street near you!
You can check them out at the The Art Box in Headway Park on Wednesday, July 22nd from 3pm to 6pm to collect your stories!
They will also be parked at the corner of Sydenham and Princess from Thursday, July 23 to Saturday, July 25th from 10am to 2pm! They will then create a podcast based on the interviews, which will all culminate in a community celebration on Saturday, August 1st at 239 Princess St (the former Just Hi Fi storefront). Show times are 11am, 1pm, 4pm and 7pm. Admission is free but space is limited, so reserve your spot by emailing kingston [at] fixtpoint.com
Please come tell us a tale and add your voice to this exciting national project!
We can't wait to hear your stories! Find out more about Tale of Town online or share your Twitter stories @taleofatown with the hashtag #reMainSt.
