Theatre Kingston

Theatre Kingston, as the name suggests, is the pre-eminent professional theatre company in Kingston, Ontario.

We currently program a four-production season from September to June as well as a TYA group, the Barefoot Players, that perform for children throughout the summer. Other activities include theatre workshops for all ages and interests, an emerging playwright development program, and an artist/community group collaboration project. We have committed ourselves to promoting theatre by, for and about Kingston and the surrounding region. This includes the development of Kingston's theatre artists and audiences alike with the goal of creating a powerful and vibrant theatre community in the city. We believe that it is our responsibility to develop and promote theatre by, for, and about Kingston and the surrounding region.

We aspire to develop a unique approach to theatrical creation that explores not only the fullest potential of the art form, but also the complex relationship between individual and communal identity. To this end, we are constantly seeking out new collaborations that will help to build bridges between diverse communities, as well as foster pride and intellectual excitement. As we have done for over fifteen years, we are committed to the creation of theatre that distinguishes itself by its professionalism
