About Glen Fast, Conductor; Janina Fialkowska, Piano

The Kingston Symphony joins the world in helping to celebrate the 200th anniversary of two musical masters – Chopin and Schumann. To honour Schumann we present his third symphony (the Rhenish). For Chopin we have a special treat. Extraordinary Canadian pianist and a favourite of Kingston audiences, Janina Fialkowska, performs Chopin’s Fantasy on Polish Airs. She also premiers Juno Award winning composer John Burge’s Prelude Variations, inspired by Chopin. This will be a party not to be missed!

Subscriptions are now on sale. Tickets for the individual concerts go on sale September 1, 2010.

Rimsky-Korsakov: Capriccio Espagnol
Grieg: Piano Concerto
Stravinsky: Firebird Suite

Rimsky-Korsakov opens the program, bringing to life the fiery passions of Spain in his gypsy inspired Capriccio Espagnol. The passion continues in Grieg’s Piano Concerto, full of fire and romance. Stravinsky keeps the flame burning with the suite from his groundbreaking ballet, The Firebird. This will be a very hot ticket!
