About Sweeney Todd

Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s chilling, suspenseful, heart-pounding masterpiece of murderous barber-ism and culinary crime tells the infamous tale of the unjustly exiled barber who returns to a forgotten London seeking revenge against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. His thirst for blood soon expands to include his unfortunate customers, and the resourceful proprietress of the pie shop downstairs soon has the people of London lining up in droves with her mysterious new meat pie recipe!

Quotes from the Kingston Whig Standard:

- “Production is a cut above the rest”

- “It shouldn't be missed.”

- “Jordan Richards has had leading roles now in three Blue Canoe musicals and is most engaging here as Sweeney”

- “Megan Scarborough plays Mrs. Lovett as a chatty, friendly sort that makes her character even funnier.”

- “Jon Bell has a wonderful baritone voice that makes him even more villainous as the judge.”

- “ Adam Holroyd is properly thuggish as the Beadle, he has a hilarious moment in the second act singing parlor songs with Mrs. Lovett.”

- “Charlotte Stewart-Juby's classically trained voice stands out above the others”

- “The Ballad Singers that follow the action around are compelling. Seldom standing up, they leer and add a beautiful air of corruption to the proceedings. And they all are stellar singers.”

- “ What gives this production its striking visual nature is actually through its makeup.”

- “Three and a Half Stars out of Five”
